Self-portrait: Me and Me

I got the inspiration from an old photo in my family's album of the younger me reading a picture book. Even though I didn't read picture books anymore as I grew up, I immediately sensed a connection between the younger me and myself by sharing the hobby of reading books. This illustration is essentially my self-portrait. I used organic elements of cell structures to represent my academic interest in biology and the genetic link between the younger and present me. I also incorporated other details related to me, including the books I was reading at the time when I drew this illustration, sneakers I wore the most often, moons which pronounced as "Yue" in Chinese like one of the characters in my name, and ancient Chinese buildings which indicate my origin. I also drew this portrait in Japanese anime style since anime as part of my childhood memory significantly influences my art style.
