About Me

My artworks centered on the relations of nature, animals and humans. However, instead of environmental conservation, I want to explore the more spiritual and philosophical connections between human beings and animals, through which I might acquire a deeper understanding of the nature and intrinsics of our beings and get to observe our human society from new perspectives. Many cultures identify their origin and traditions with one or more specific species. For our Chinese people, we consign our good wishes (like happiness, wealth, longevity) to fantasized animals, such as dragons (called “Long” in Chinese) and phoenix. Also, I find it amusing that how humans develop anthropomorphism and channel their personalities and emotions to animals. The best example is definitely Aesop’s Fables. Therefore, besides portraying the animal symbols in different cultures, I also created some works using animal figures to represent certain characters of human beings.
